I’ve had this book checked out from the library for months, “Teach Yourself Catalan” by Alan Yates, and I’ve flipped through a few pages of it!

It’s a unique language! A lot of it *sounds* like Spanish. (I grew up in Texas, where there were many Spanish-speakers)

But a lot of the grammar strongly resembles French!

Which do you think the language is more closely related to?

I mean, e.g. When I listen to English, it’s like if the person had a chewing gum stuck on his/her palate, as if they were drunk when they speak, or as if they didn’t vocalise well. But how does Spanish sound for you? I’ve heard thousands of times, it sounds like Maschine-gun fast. But I don’t get it that well.

The sounds they make are almost identical to me.

And for those who are not familiar with greek.
In greek hello is “kala”
and it sounds just like the spanish “hola”

And if you think “Apocalypse” in english sounds the same in greek, you are wrong it actually sounds more like spanish “Apokalipsis”
